The Neon Legacy Street Court: Where Art and Tennis Collide in London

In a groundbreaking collaboration Roger Federer and Mercedes-Benz have unveiled an extraordinary project in London – The Neon Legacy Street Court. This public tennis court, renovated and designed by the internationally acclaimed street art duo Low Bros, not only showcases their artistic brilliance but also aims to promote accessibility and popularity of the sport.

The latest addition to the Neon Legacy initiative, founded by Roger Federer and Mercedes-Benz, has brought a splash of creativity to the heart of London. Located in Bostall Gardens, the flagship court of this project has undergone a complete refurbishment and received a remarkable artistic makeover. The masterminds behind this transformation are none other than the renowned street art duo, Low Bros, known for their retro-futuristic style and exploration of digital-age contradictions.

Designed in collaboration with the local community, the Neon Legacy Street Court is a true work of art that seamlessly blends into its surroundings. Paying homage to the facility’s name, Bostall Gardens, the court features vibrant floral motifs and intricate 3D elements reminiscent of open windows on a computer desktop. The result is a mesmerizing fusion of art, sport, and community.

“It has always been my goal to give something back to the next generation of tennis players. I am very grateful to be a partner with Mercedes-Benz and the Neon Legacy project which not only renovated this tennis facility, but transformed it into a bright and happy place for everyone to enjoy.”

Christoph and Florin Schmidt, the talented duo known as Low Bros, have expressed their excitement for this project. For them, it was crucial to design a piece of urban living space that not only retained its original purpose but also strengthened the identity of the local community. Their vision has resulted in a tennis court that transcends its function, becoming an artistic statement that brings people together.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this street art tennis court serves a significant purpose in promoting public tennis and nurturing the next generation of players. By integrating themselves into the daily lives of the community, these courts create a shared space that fosters a sense of identity and togetherness. The Neon Legacy Street Court is not an isolated project but rather a centerpiece within a larger community facility. Complemented by a calisthenics training area, a basketball court, and a children’s playground, the tennis courts provide a hub for physical activity and social engagement. This integration of various sports and artistic expression showcases the power of collaboration in creating spaces that cater to diverse interests.
